Chinese New Year 2007:Taroko (太魯閣)and Kenting(墾丁)

For the Chinese New Year holiday in 2007, my friend Patrick and I travelled first to the east coast where we stayed at Taroko(太魯閣) and then down to Kenting(墾丁) where we also stayed for a couple of nights.

Sunrise on the east coast.

Qixingtan (七星潭)between Taroko (太魯閣)and Hualian(花蓮).

National highway number 11 just south of Hualian(花蓮).

We stopped at a beach just to the north of Taitung(台東) to have our lunch..

It's impossible to follow the east coast road all the way to Kenting(墾丁), so one has to travel first inland on national road number 9 before heading south on route 199. This is a picture taken from route 199 as we head back towards the coast.

Back on the coast again on national highway number 26.

We decided to take a little detour to explore a dirt track.

Sand dunes at Gangzi(港仔) on the south-east coast of Taiwan. We were slightly confused by the English sign that advertises the "Gangzi Sand Dessert"!

Farmland near Kenting(墾丁).

Returning home on the west coast, we travelled north along national highway number 27 along the Laonong River.(荖濃溪)
